The CHALLENGE
LIDO Festival 2025 operates a strict zero waste-to-landfill system, requiring highly accurate on-site waste sorting to minimise cross-contamination across multiple waste streams. With thousands of attendees across a nine-day event, the challenge was to support clear, intuitive waste separation that aligned with the festival’s sustainability framework and reusable infrastructure requirements.
PLAN, PROCESS, PRODUCT

The process
SYSTEM DESIGN:
We developed colour-coded reusable bin toppers aligned with LIDO Festival 2025’s defined waste streams, including compostables, recyclables, and general waste. The system was designed to improve clarity at point-of-disposal and reduce incorrect waste sorting.
MATERIAL SPECIFICATION:
Each unit was manufactured from durable, reusable materials suitable for outdoor festival environments, ensuring long-term performance across multiple event cycles.
OPERATIONAL INTEGRATION:
We worked alongside the festival’s waste management partners to ensure seamless integration with on-site operations, supporting efficient deployment and consistent use across all waste stations.
The end product
The result was a reusable waste segregation system that significantly improved sorting accuracy and reduced contamination across all waste streams at LIDO Festival 2025. The bin toppers supported the festival’s zero waste-to-landfill objectives and provided a scalable infrastructure solution that can be reused across future events. All units remained fully functional after the festival, confirming their durability and long-term reuse potential in high-footfall environments.
